        Verdict

        MAZEPPA finished a creditable third on his racecourse debut over 6f at Ayr despite being completely unfancied in the betting. A half-brother to a winner over today's trip, he looks to have a good chance to open his account. Lady Poppy showed improvement to take second over C&D a fortnight ago and can figure again and Cymeriad has claims on last month's placed effort at Wolverhampton. Panama Cat was sent off favourite at Beverley for her debut outing but unseated after a stumble while Clean Blow and Pacquiao makes most appeal of the newcomers.
