Verdict
Iron Velvet has looked the sort to improve for handicap company but he's not obviously well treated here so instead we look for a bit of value in MOTIVATIONAL to score despite top-weight while Emerald Girl is also considered. His top pedigree suggests the pick should be at his best over middle distance trips but after fading over seven furlongs last time this step down in trip looks the way to go. For much of that race it looked like he may have picked up the win so racing off the same mark he should go very well. Iron Velvet has only really put in some indifferent runs in maidens but the form from his run behind Chaperno two starts ago puts him in the picture on his handicap bow. Emerald Girl ran a very pleasing debut in these ranks last time well ahead of a dual subsequent winner which also sees her own mark on the fair side. Ginger Grey is racing off of the same rating that had him in second last time and with his conditional pilot removing five pounds extra off that burden he's weighted to get involved. A really competitive handicap this but Motivational might just take it.
