Verdict
A difficult puzzle to finish with as a number of out-of-form sprinters make their way to post. Old stager, First Maite would have been a stand out bet had he been better drawn. He is in good heart but with things not panning out his way, he certainly isn't one to be taking a short price upon. Hormuz has dropped down the handicap of late but he hasn't been at the top of his game at the moment. His forcing tactics though may well work on this occasion. Lucayan Monarch is arguably better over a shorter trip and is passed over. The TEAMtalk selection is Raphael. Tim Easterby's filly paid the penalty for success as a two-year-old but she is now off a more realistic mark these days and her recent Beverley run gave much to enthuse over in the context of this contest.
