        Verdict

        Micklegate and Tamesis both have to be respected on their debuts but with the yards of James Bethell and Tim Easterby, respectively, not known for their prowess at producing first time out two-year-old winners it may pay to side with the experience of Amber Fox, who is taken to gain a first success. The daughter of Foxhound clearly learnt from her Hamilton debut last month when making a return visit to the same venue last time. A close fifth behind Mark Johnston's Parkview Love (a good second since) represents solid maiden form in the context of today's opposition and she is taken to open her account. Of the others to have raced Dean Ivory's Ivory Lace has the best form but she is becoming exposed now and is readily opposable so the biggest threat to the selection may come from one of the previously unraced runners. The Fasliyev filly Tamesis makes most appeal on pedigree but, as we have already said, Tim Easterby's juveniles normally need their first run and the half-sister to two-year-old winners B A Highflyer and Martha Daly, Micklegate may be a bigger threat.
