        Verdict

        Jockey bookings suggest Rex Imperator is preferred to stablemates Harwoods Volante and Highland Acclaim of David O’Meara’s runners. The former was ahead of previous course-and-distance winner Hakam when third at Ripon last month. Handsome Dude beat Intense Style at Doncaster but was well beaten last time while Doctor Sardonicus won at Yarmouth but was behind fifth-placed BOOMERANG BOB at Ascot subsequently. The latter is now back on a winning mark and gets a speculative vote to come good again in a typically wide-open sprint, though Distant Past and Golden Amber are not out of this either.
