In depth

Verdict

Javelin made a winning return at Lingfield but came up short in this grade at Doncaster last week. FIELD GUN (NAP) found the 6f too short when second at Lingfield last time but scored over course and distance on his reappearance and Stuart Williams’ charge gets the vote racing off a similar mark back over today’s trip. Young John and Salt Whistle Bay should both be sharper for recent comebacks, though the latter looks more favourably handicapped, but Dourado failed to win last year and is still 5lb higher than when last successful. Pearl Spectre scored here in January and has slipped back down the weights since without threatening.
