Verdict

Derek O’Connor is an eye-catching jockey booking for Nicky Henderson on Champagne Platinum, who was third in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles at Sandown last time and has been very lightly raced. He’s won a point so should handle the step up in trip, though is up against some battle-hardened handicappers. Le Breuil won the National Hunt Chase here last year under Jamie Codd and has been showing signs of a revival lately. Fitzhenry and Milan Native are consistent and shouldn’t be far away while Deise Aba has won both chase starts this season and may still be improving. Thomas Patrick is thrown in on past form and Plan Of Attack has a talented Irish amateur in the saddle but we’ll stick with BOB MAHLER, who was in cracking form around this time last year when winning over track and trip. He probably produced a career-best when successful over a marathon trip at Musselburgh last month and is turning into a decent stayer.
