Verdict

Maze Runner is 10lb better off than when beaten just under five lengths by BAND OF OUTLAWS at Naas but Joseph O’Brien’s improver was such an easy winner that he should have few problems confirming the form and can again beat third Coko Beach. JJ Slevin’s mount looks the one to beat in this but the trainer also runs Fine Brunello and Star Max. The latter arrives off the back of a win at Gowran but finished a place behind Lethal Steps at Naas earlier and the pair meet on the same terms. The latter could be the pick of the Elliott trio, ahead of the more-exposed Chief Justice, having also placed at Punchestown this year - he had a rating of 102 on the Flat so could be well handicapped. This race has thrown up more than its fair share of shock results in recent years with only one of the last seven winners starting at shorter odds than 25/1 so nothing is ruled out, though the market is dominated by the Irish. Alan King’s Our Power may be the best hope of a British winner but Belargus could go well if getting a run from his reserve spot.
