Verdict

Nigel Twiston-Davies won this race last year and his runner Razor Royale has to be respected, but Paul Nicholls can land this event with HERECOMESTHETRUTH who is preferred to Shining Gale. The selection won on his seasonal reappearance at Chepstow when he got the better of Hermano Cordobes. That was his chasing debut and he jumped really well, so with the promise of more to come he should prove hard to beat. Shining Gale won well on his chasing debut at Ludlow but his chief rival Pop fell four out so it is hard to know exactly what he achieved in winning that race. Razor Royale fell here last month on his chasing bow, but he was decent over hurdles and with the yard in good form he could be worth another chance. Dream Garden won well on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter and he is proven on the ground so a case can also be made for him. However, Herecomesthetruth made a really positive impression on his chasing bow and he looks the one to beat.
