Coole Cody has a terrific record around here and was fourth in this last year. He’s only 2lb higher but has been a little below par the last twice and is in the veteran stage now. Hardline usually competes at a higher level but was disappointing in his only previous Festival appearance back in 2019 and Grand Paradis may be the pick of his stable’s three runners. Celebre D'allen is unbeaten since joining Philip Hobbs and coped easily with a switch back to fences at Warwick but SIMPLY THE BETTS can win this for a second time in three years. He is another who runs his best races around here and he has done nothing wrong in two runs over this trip this season. Northern raider Schiehallion Munro has been in fine form at Wetherby but has no experience in fields as big as this but The Glancing Queen is a tough mare who will cope with the numbers while Imperial Alcazar handled these fences with aplomb in January. Fusil Raffles has held his own in a couple of tough handicaps since winning a Grade 2 at Wetherby in the autumn and was second in a Grade 1 at The Festival last year. Significant rain would help Adrimel but Slate House has clearly gone backwards since winning the Grade 1 Kauto Star in 2019.
