Verdict

Cause Of Causes won the big race over the cross-country fences here at The Festival in March and later finished a fine second in the Aintree Grand National. But he’s having his first run since April and is worse off at the weights with both CANTLOW (NAP) and Auvergnat, third and fourth here in March. The latter has had a summer campaign, winning at Killarney in May but Mark Walsh prefers the former, who had a pipe-opener over hurdles at Thurles and is seeking back-to-back victories in this contest. Urgent De Gregaine beat the selection three lengths here in January but is 9lb worse off. Aubusson was a useful hurdler in his prime but his record over fences is less impressive and he has no experience in races like this.
