Verdict

Something of a lottery to end proceedings. David Pipe has tried and failed 20 times to win the race named after father Martin but has three runners this year and all won last time. Martinhal, who missed a tilt at Saturday’s Imperial Cup due to traffic, makes more appeal than First Lord De Cuet and Leoncavallo. Langer Dan won the Imperial Cup and was sixth in the Boodles at last year’s Festival but didn’t appear to stay when tackling this trip at Plumpton. Gentleman De Mee only won a maiden at Naas but did so with the minimum of fuss and was placed over 2m2f in France. Galopin Des Champs is similarly unexposed but GABYNAKO wasn't suited by dropping back to 2m in the Ladbroke and also made a mistake at a crucial stage. He’ll handle this quicker surface better than most so gets a tentative vote. The maiden Fire Attack and Commandingpresence also warrant a mention and Jordan Gainford is a good booking for Navan Grade 3 winner Frontal Assault.
