In depth

Verdict

Chiaro is the one to be on, with Tritonville Lodge and Pace Shot taken to chase him home. All of Chiaro's form in France was on soft ground, but he handled the slightly faster conditions well when making a successful British debut at Chepstow in March. However, on even better ground he was well beaten behind Natal at Aintree 13 days ago, and it was more a case of him not seeing out the two-and-a-half mile trip. Therefore this drop back in distance and lesser opposition should combine to see him get back to winning ways before going chasing next autumn. Tritonville Lodge has been given a break since being edged out in a close finish at Doncaster in December and could be a progressive sort. He may need the run but should give a good account, as should Pace Shot who has finished behind the selection's much more illustrious stablemate Detroit City on each of his last two starts. Philip Hobbs will have a line to work on and will be pretty confident of collecting here with Chiaro
