Verdict

The five previous winners all carry small penalties. Market Rasen scorer Earlofthecotswolds may be the best of those, ahead of Master Debonair and Strong Glance. The latter’s yard won this last year but stable jockey Paddy Brennan rides maiden points winner Robyndzone, snapped up by Fergal O’Brien having failed to meet his reserve at Goffs in May. Ratfacemcdougall has also won between the flags and changed hands for £50,000 in May. NORTHERN BOUND is a half-brother to five winners over jumps and two of those siblings also won on the Flat. He was unlucky not to win on his pointing debut at Loughanmore in the spring and looks a bright prospect under Rules.
