In depth
Verdict
Matterofact won twice over last season, including over this C&D in July, but she normally needs a run to put her straight and has never been successful off a mark this high. Stablemate Wooden King also looks high enough in the weights at present while The Jailer has picked up a penalty for her win in a four-runner race at Brighton last week. Steelcut is only a plater and Hoh Hoh Hoh appears to be regressing while Even Bolder is in the midst of a losing run that stretches back to January last year. DESPERATE DAN is a quirky individual but has a decent turn of foot when in the mood and this looks just the type of race in which he could excel.
