ROYAL DEFENDER, a winner between the flags, finished ahead of Hurricane Danny on his debut under Rules here in October. He’s been given plenty of time to mature further and may now be ready to do himself justice. November’s course and distance winner Spirits Bay is an obvious danger with Finn Lambert’s claim reducing his penalty while Beachcomber could figure if settling better than at Carlisle. Duc Du Rene is a half-brother to three winners and an interesting newcomer.
