In depth

Verdict

Severnaya won easily at Newcastle on her debut though beat little and hasn’t raced since March. The Gosden filly is still likely to prove popular on her reappearance despite carrying a penalty but may be worth taking on with a newcomer in the shape of WHEREWITHAL. The latter has no fancy entries but is a half-brother to the top-class Group 1 winner Romantica as well as a Listed winner and a chance is taken Ralph Beckett’s colt proves good enough. A Place To Dream was narrowly beaten at Bath when dropped down to 5f while Alameery was still beaten a long way when third at Lingfield and Snow Ocean debuts for a new yard having failed to threaten in five starts for John Oxx in Ireland.
