Verdict

SANTIAGO stayed on over 7f at Leopardstown then attempted to make all over the same trip at Gowran but had no answer to Alpine Star, who has since won the Group 2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh. Aidan O'Brien's filly will be unfortunate to come up against one as good here and should lose her maiden tag. Jessica Harrington trains that winner and has Grey Serge engaged here and he was only just beaten into third in what looked a strong maiden on soft ground at Killarney so conditions will be in his favour. Benignitas was beaten a long way on heavy going at Roscommom but Sonnyboyliston really caught the eye at the Curragh. Johnny Murtagh's colt stayed on strongly over that 7f on soft ground and normal progress should see him in the firing-line.
