    Verdict

    FIRST CONNECTION opened his account when upped to today’s trip at Bath. There should be more to come from Charlie Fellowes’ colt now handicapping and he’s preferred to Silvestris. The latter has gone close over 1m2f on the all-weather while Balearic won over 7f at Newcastle in March and races over this far for the first time.

    Silvestris 15-2 (9-5) Raced keenly in midfield, asked to quicken 3f out, short of room before 2f out, switched left and pushed after 2f out, ridden inside final furlong and stayed on well, 4th of 7, 3 1/4l behind Noble Crusade (9-6) at Carlisle 1m 1f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
