Verdict

John Dunlop's PERFECT SHOT is likely to be at relatively short odds for this maiden having run well in similar races and in handicaps in his last two starts and he is hard to oppose in a race that should not take much winning, with the main dangers rated as Maskateer and Warrants Attention. Andrew Balding's gelding was well held on his debut at Sandown earlier this month and he would need to improve dramatically on that effort to trouble the selection but the stable do have their runners in good form at present. Saxona won a bumper at Towcester last month but has shown little sign of ability in two starts on the flat since then. Paul Cole's Guilin has given little sign of encouragement in her six outings, while No Sting has been beaten by a combined total of over 80 lengths in his four starts so far. Alison Thorpe's Maskateer should come on for his debut here last month but needs to if he is to get the better of Perfect Shot.
