    Verdict

Gallant Eagle is consistent enough and has dropped to a fair mark though he doesn't win very often. Cultural Desert hasn't done as well on soft ground recently after scoring on fast going at Salisbury, while Ancient Greece and Encore Un Fois are very closely matched again after fighting out the finish at Brighton. The lightly-raced Russian Affair makes his handicap debut and is respected while Mr Udagawa is attempting a C&D hat-trick and is clearly in great heart on this sort of ground. HIGH ON THE HOG looked on the upgrade when scoring on soft going at Brighton but flopped there on faster ground a week later. Today's conditions should be ideal and he's taken to get back on track.
