In depth

Verdict

A wide-open affair here and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Once A Brownie, Portland Bill and Doc Row and the narrow nomination is given to Once A Brownie. The selection won well last time out when beating Speed Winner and although he has a penalty for that win he looks a progressive type and under similar conditions here he is taken to score. Portland Bill rates the main danger as he had every chance until falling last time out, he remains on a fair mark and should be watched in the market. Doc Row is another that could go well on his latest second behind Ranelagh Gray but he looks vulnerable to a less exposed type. Sir Bathwick won well last time when beating Burntoakboy but that form has since been let down and he is taken on with this in mind. Of the remainder, Ballyshan is from a yard in form and is worth a cautionary look in the market but for the winner we are happy to return to the progressive Once A Brownie.
