Verdict
True Night is at the top of his game and looks set to go close again, but this may rest between Merdiff and Flying Express, with the latter just edging the decision. The selection finished third behind today's rival Waterside at Sandown last time, going down by just a length and a half, and is eight pounds better off this afternoon so should reverse the form with that opponent. He likes to force the pace, and from a good berth in stall five, will be very hard to pass. True Night comes here on the back of victories at Ascot and Newcastle, he tends to do just enough and so has been overly punished for those success's and rates a very big danger. Merdiff could be best of the others having been successful over the mile trip here earlier this month. So a very tricky event, but Flying Express is expected to lead them home.
