Verdict
Crownthorpe won’t mind conditions as he won on soft going at York last year. He’s fit from the all-weather and has place claims from a decent draw. Another Batt is a pound lower than when scoring at Thirsk last summer but he showed little on his reappearance. Twice a winner on good to soft here last August, REVICH (NAP) is fast becoming a standing dish on the Roodee. He followed up a sixth in the Lincoln, ahead of Grove Ferry and Ascension, with a fourth in the Spring Cup at Newbury so arrives back at his favourite track in excellent form and has the plum draw to boot. Gobi Sunset should help make the pace for Richard Spencer’s five-year-old but has a couple of lengths to find with Dulas on Haydock running. Brentford Hope beat a good yardstick over a mile at Haydock on his final start last year but a further drop in distance may not be ideal on a sharp course like this.
