Verdict

Five of the last seven renewals have gone to a Ballydoyle runner and CIRCUS MAXIMUS (NAP) looks to have leading claims ahead of stablemate and last year’s Royal Lodge winner Mohawk. The former was beaten only a length behind subsequent 2000 Guineas hero Magna Grecia in the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster when last in action and the longer trip will suit Aidan O’Brien’s Derby entry. Fox Chairman made an impressive debut with an easy win in maiden company at Newbury while Allmankind is another maiden winner and Mohtarrif landed a novices race at Lingfield in March. Living Legend continued his good progress with success in a handicap at Bath though still has something to find with Dark Jedi on these terms as the latter steps up in trip.
