Verdict

Eric Alston's runners are invariably fancied at Chester and while Sugar Lump is of interest on a first start for the yard, we will offer another chance to GATEPOST. Richard Fahey's gelding has been frustrating for his backers over the years but he seems to put up some of his better performances around here and conditions will suit. Monsieur Chevalier has been revitalised by a switch to James Given and he showed himself to be no back number with another success at Wolverhampton. Smokethatthunders was well held on his last visit here whilst any market confidence behind Know Your Name should be noted. David Evans' charge was well beaten in this race last year but he returns off an 11lb lower mark on this occasion.
