In depth
Verdict
Wovoka has the beating of Orpsie Boy on running at Redcar last month and has to be respected on that evidence but his style of running suggests that the extra furlong today may not suit and preference is for Weekend Fever. The selection stayed on strongly when landing his maiden at Hamilton last month and Mark Johnston's colt looks to be reasonably well treated for his debut in this grade over a trip that should suit. Shaydreambeliever was well held by the selection's stablemate Nihal at York last time and may have to settle for a minor role again here, while Dark Islander may be better than he has shown so far and is held in high regard by connections. Top weight Gamesters Lady should appreciate the drop back in trip today but seems a shade high in the handicap at present and of more interest may be Walter Swinburn's Celebration Song, who should be better suited by today's faster ground than at York last time. Weekend Fever looks ready for this step up in trip though and is taken to make a winning start to his nursery career.
