In depth

Verdict

This looks wide open with most having some sort of chance. Ryan Moore, who rode last year’s winner, teams up with True Statesman for Charlie Johnston with Franny Norton on Urban Sprawl, who ran well on his reappearance at Musselburgh having won three times over this trip last year. Coco Jack did well to finish fourth at Haydock 12 days ago as he missed the break but a tardy start here is usually punished. SURELY NOT was a ready winner at Newmarket and appears to have improved over the winter. He’s 7lb higher here but William Buick takes over the reins. Lord Uhtred will strip for a run at Newbury and Theoryofeverything, the least exposed, was far from disgraced when third in the Greenham. Promoter also has scope as do Vetiver and Self Aclaim, who are both on a hat-trick.
