In depth

Verdict

An open maiden here, with Donegal Dancer taken to come good at the fourth time of asking. A couple of good efforts over today's trip at Epsom look solid enough and as far as this contest is concerned the colt's defeat at Doncaster last time over a mile, when stepped up in class, can be dismissed. A good inside draw will also help, and Michael Hills' mount can get off the mark here. Another one with form and a good draw (stall one) is Prince Holing. It will be interesting to see what tactics are employed here, but Prince Holing has been held up so far and it is often difficult to win from off the pace at The Roodeye. However, trip and ground will suit and it would be no surprise to see him involved in the finish. Due Respect also merits consideration, though his stable have not been enjoying their best spell recently and a wide draw isn't helpful. Shingles wouldn't be without a squeak if he gets the trip, though he dwelt last time and from stall eight he would give himself little chance if the same thing happened here.
