In depth
Verdict
Mutahayya looked useful on his debut at Newbury and he is fancied to regain the winning thread at the expense of Old Malt and Horner. Richard Hills' mount has been allocated the dream berth of stall one at Chester and with the draw at a premium; this is worth a couple of lengths before the race has started. On the form book he is clear pick on a recent second to Always First (the useful Gwaihir in behind) and this form should suffice if reproduced here. Old Malt landed a Brighton Maiden Auction stakes and has no problems with the trip. He looks an ideal candidate for nurseries but has plenty to find on official BHB figures in order to land today's prize. Horner was not unbacked before making his debut at York. Connections must have thought enough of him to give him a tilt at the Ebor festival and indeed, an entry in the Dewhirst. Kieren Fallon is booked and the market must be observed again today. Charlie Tango didn't look to stay the six furlongs at Salisbury last time out and his supporters will be taking something of a leap in the dark here this afternoon. Mrs Gee is a cheaply bought daughter of Desert Story. We however will stick with the proven form of Mutahayya in the opener.
