Verdict
Lommel can follow up his Yarmouth debut win over this longer trip. On breeding seven furlongs should suit better than six. He's not one of the stable's hotpots, it would seem, but he beat a number of previous winners that day and can improve enough to take this. His main danger looks to be Motivus. Second to the subsequent Gimcrack winner, Balmont, on his debut, he then disappointed at Goodwood. Plenty of horses have a off-day at that track so, if you are prepared to forgive him that effort, he can be competitive here. Again, seven furlongs should suit him also. Of the others, Jack Sullivan looks to be improving based on his Windsor effort last time, but more is required again. Olihider has place claims based on a decent Newmarket maiden effort last time, while James Fanshawe's Primus Inter Pares, a son of Sadler's Wells, cost 110,000 guineas as a yearling so should have something about him. Bellagio Princess stepped up on her debut to finish third in a decent Catterick maiden last time and could improve again at the trip. With the stable showing welcome signs of a return to form, Terry Mills' 32,000 guineas purchase Resplendent One could also come into the reckoning. Overall, though, Lommel might be the one ahead of Motivus and the newcomer Primus Inter Pares.
