In depth

Verdict

Honky Tonk Sally can land the opening race on the card, with Chaenomeles and Incarnation put forward as others to consider. Michael Bell's filly has had four runs and she can put her experience to good use today. She ran well last time when chasing home Blue Eyed Miss over 5f, she is proven on the ground, has a good draw and she should be suited by the step-up in trip so she stands out as the one to beat. Chaenomeles is an interesting newcomer from the Mark Johnston yard, and they have really hit form. However, stall 9 for a newcomer at Chester is far from ideal. Incarnation ran a promising race on her debut at Haydock when finishing in mid-division behind Maryqueenofscots. She is sure to come on for the experience but she will need some luck from stall 7 to get her head in front. Lady Zabeen is from a yard in form and she is another to consider, but there is plenty to like about Honky Tonk Sally who is taken to land the prize.
