A huge field here but only one, Handsome Maverick, has won over the course and distance and that was gained on soft ground. Bay Of Skaill has her huge weight reduced by her young rider's claim and though she's never won she's not on a bad mark and was beaten only a head in her one start on the track. Polly Douglas will have found 5f too sharp on fast going at Navan and this looks ideal while Denis Hogan has his string in fine form so Althib can go close, though might just prefer a slightly longer trip. Red All Star has been running well from this mark and can't get much lower but the vote goes to SHORE STEP. He was a disappointing favourite on his reappearance at Cork but is very well handicapped on last season's form and gets another chance.
