In depth

Verdict

A cracking finale in prospect featuring an Irish Derby winner and a dual Melbourne Cup-placed entry. Latrobe won the classic here in 2018 and landed a Leopardstown Group 3 in August having been beaten a neck over this track and trip earlier. He'll have no problems staying the trip nor will Max Dynamite, placed at Flemington in 2015 and 2017 and runner-up in the 2018 Doncaster Cup. The former is trained by Joseph O'Brien, who also has three-times French winner Verimli engaged and he'll be better for a run over a trip too short here last month where he was staying on. Mirann, another winner in France, made a successful start for Johnny Murtagh at Gowran and, though that was over 1m1f, he should have no problems staying. DALTON HIGHWAY has been a grand servant to Dermot Weld, winning five times in all including a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown in December. He returned to the Flat a fortnight ago and overcame trouble in-running to gain a decisive victory. He's up 9lb but gets the nod to go in again.
