Verdict

NATIVE TRAIL, surprisingly beaten by stable companion Coroebus in the Newmarket version, should make amends here. Already a dual Group 1 winner, including the National Stakes on this track, it will be a surprise if he can't beat what's in front of him here though any further deterioration in the going could be a problem. Fellow raider Imperial Fighter was only two lengths behind Coroebus at Newmarket in October and was probably unlucky in a Listed race at Newcastle last month. Buckaroo heads the home challenge after an impressive victory over Wexford Native in a Listed contest here and he had Duke De Sessa behind when runner-up to Piz Badile in the Ballysax at Leopardstown. Aidan O'Brien hasn't won this since Churchill in 2017 and Ivy League, who won a Naas handicap last month, was beaten in a Leopardstown Group 3 last time.
