The potentially well treated Hoofalong warrants a market check in this. Counter Ridge was only beaten a neck here in the autumn off a 3lb lower mark while Ancient Cross finished ahead of Desert Law and Chilworth Icon when fourth at Beverley last month. Sunraider won on good to firm at Pontefract in September and wasn't disgraced on his reappearance at that track but still finished behind MONEY TEAM (NAP). Four-year-olds have done well in this race in recent years and David Barron's charge can get back to winning ways with the going in his favour. The hat-trick seeking Meshardal may find this step up in grade too much off his new mark but Whozthecat has place claims having already won over track and trip.
