In depth

Verdict

LA SARRAZINE is given the vote in the mares' handicap hurdle, with Bosamcliff and Je Ne Sais Plus also respected. The selection was an easy winner of a novices' contest on good to soft here last time and a mark of 118 looks fair enough for this handicap debut. She is clearly going the right way, and we hope that there is at least some cut in the ground for her, as she has shown her best with juice in the ground. Her strike rate is very good, which is testimony to the placement of James Fanshawe, and she can carry Tony McCoy to another win. Bosamcliff chases a cross-code hat-trick after a Hereford win over the sticks followed by a Southwell handicap win last time on the Fibresand. She has gone up 11lbs for that hurdling effort, making this a fair bit tougher, but she is at least in good heart and her 7lb claimer might help offset the burden. She is respected. Je Ne Sais Plus is another in cracking form, and she drops back in trip from 2m 4f after winning here in December. A sound surface suits and even with a 10lb rise she looks capable of being very competitive. Little Lu looks well treated if she can produce the form she was showing a couple of summers ago, while Bogside Theatre is 8lbs better off with the selection for a six length beating last month, though she may not be open to as much improvement and the nod goes to La Sarrazine.
