Verdict
Sir Michael Stoute has been patient with Laughter, who has only been seen twice previously and has not been seen since finishing down the field in the Cheshire Oaks last season, and she has to be respected off what seems a fair mark but a safer option looks to be LADY JANE DIGBY, who gets the vote with Short Affair rated the pick of the remainder. The selection represents the in-form Mark Johnston stable and comes here having run well in defeat when chasing home Allied Powers over 1m4f at Hamilton last month. Earlier good form on the Polytrack suggests that the drop back in trip today should suit the daughter of Oasis Dream and she looks worth siding with. Ralph Beckett's Tactful has to be considered on her turf debut but she looks a shade high in the weights, while Suzi Spends disappointed on her return to turf at Goodwood recently and is another probably best watched. Amanjena won narrowly at Ascot last time and a 3lb rise for that run looks harsh so a bigger threat may come from Luca Cumani's Short Affair, who is making her British debut today. Preference then is for Mark Johnston's Lady Jane Digby, who should appreciate the trip today and she is taken to resume winning ways.
