          Verdict

          A typically competitive renewal of this grand old handicap. Double Up made rapid strides last year but hasn’t had the same impact at Listed level and may need the handicapper to relent a little. The same can be said for the remarkably consistent Final Venture, who has gone up again for his narrow defeat at Beverley. Captain Colby was finishing strongly at York last time, despite having the worst of the draw, but preference is for the similarly lightly-raced JUDICIAL who shaped as though there was a lot more to come when winning at Chester. Confessional seems in good heart at the moment and can make the frame, along with Harry Hurricane, who put a couple of bad performances behind him with solid efforts at York and Goodwood.
