One of the key fillies races for juveniles of the year and many of these look to have bright futures. With regard to a selection for today's contest, we'll go Qasirah. She was beaten by a length-and-a-quarter by the Barry Hills-trained Bay Tree in a Listed event at Newmarket last time, which is very useful form. Hills has elected to run Lady Pipit here in preference to Bay Tree from his five-day entries, which is interesting. An impressive Sandown Listed winner, Lucky Pipit had her colours lowered in a Group 3 race at The Curragh last time, although she got upset before that race. She holds Leopard Hunt on Sandown form, although the latter, trained by John Gosden, should be open to improvement. Turning to their rivals. Mark Johnston is represented by Beverley maiden winner Caracara; John Dunlop runs the impressive Newmarket winner Hathrah, who cost 340,000 guineas as a yearling; Pat Haslam runs the Shergar Cup-meeting winner Kinnaird, who is certainly on an upward curve of improvement; and Sir Michael Stoute runs the highly-regarded Nureyev filly, Russian Dance, who probably has to improve on what she has so far achieved. Tamarillo should also get better as time goes on, being related to the high-class stayer Royal Gait on her dam's side. As we say, it's a fascinating contest, one in which we will side with Qasirah.
