In depth

Verdict

Overdrawn needed every yard of the seven furlongs when winning a similar race at York on Sunday and has to be respected stepping up to a mile for the first time but an 8lb penalty leaves Jamie Osborne's gelding with more to do and, along with Queenstown, he may struggle to concede so much weight to Go Solo. Barry Hills has a fine record at this meeting and the Guy Reed-owned colt looks to have been allotted a fair mark for his handicap debut. The son of Primo Dominie still looked green when winning a seven-furlong maiden at Chester last month and, with plenty more improvement to come especially over this trip, he gets the nod in a competitive event. Brian Meehan's Queenstown has obvious claims following a fair third in a Sandown nursery last time, along with Fanling Lady, who was doing all of her best work at the end of the mile at Haydock last week. Mark Johnston's Less of A Mystery is probably better than he has shown so far and is another to consider along with Ripon winner Breathing Sun, who has the assistance of Pat Eddery. However, Go Solo has a featherweight 8st 3lb and is taken to make the most of the weight she receives from his rivals.
