Verdict

Quite a tricky race to assess given that not many of these will relish the cut in the ground, but one who should be at home is DREAM DAY, who gets the vote. Richard Hannon's filly showed she handled soft ground when runner up to Muthabara in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury in April, and in doing so she proved she can handle Group company. Out of her depth at Longchamp in May, she has not been seen since running no sort of race at the Derby meeting. Even so, she goes well fresh, gets through the ground and has enough ability to take this over what is probably her optimum trip. There is no doubting the ability of Festoso, who sees a racecourse for the first time since finishing third in last year's Cheveley Park, and she should enjoy the step up in trip here, but she has to prove she handles the ground. The same can be said of Red Dune, who looks like she prefers it quicker, though there are less concerns over the going with Floristry. By Fasliyev, she should relish a bit of cut, and this trip should also suit, though her recent form leaves a bit to be desired. Royal Confidence would prefer it like a road, and Candle Sahara should go on good to soft, but would be seen to better effect if things dried out. A fascinating contest where there have often been decent priced winners and we'll take Dream Day to score. (Jonathan Doidge)
