        Verdict

Buccaneers Vault won the inaugural running of this lady riders’ handicap 12 months ago but is 7lb higher now and runner-up Kenny The Captain is 8lb better off. The latter has run well this year without managing to get his head in front, including when well backed at Thirsk last Saturday. Related and recent Newmarket winner Rebel Surge were fourth and sixth last year and are also better off at the weights with the winner. Poppy Bridgwater has been among the winners lately and is good value for her 7lb claim aboard Dougan, who is edging towards a winning mark. Oriental Lilly has won twice over this trip this year and April’s Thirsk winner Black Isle Boy has been waiting for the ground to ease and goes well fresh. But we’ll give one more chance to EASTERN IMPACT who, despite sharing top weight, is looking very well treated nowadays, though wouldn’t want the heavens to open. The Armed Man also warrants a mention.
