        Verdict

        State Occasion finished almost four lengths ahead of Light Refrain when a promising fifth in what looked an above-average novice event at Ascot three weeks ago. Granted normal improvement, she shouldn’t be far away here but NAZUNA was also an eye-catcher at Goodwood last month and she may just edge this. Amasova was second in a four-runner race at Haydock while Newmarket sixth Diamond And Gold is a likely improver and there are a host of well-bred newcomers. Forever Grateful, Turandot and Varenna Storm are all nice prospects on paper.
