Verdict

Several of these ran in the race won by Ropey Guest at York last month. Spirit Catcher did best and is the choice of Charlie Johnston’s retained jockey Joe Fanning again but Sonny Liston wasn’t far behind and other Johnston entries, DUTCH DECOY and the subsequent Goodwood winner The Gatekeeper, weren’t beaten far either from poor draws. Richard Kingscote’s mount, who beat Liberty Lane at Newmarket over the summer, may just be the pick of the weights today. Pisanello has been in good form this summer and may have been given too much ground to make up at Thirsk when last seen but Danny Tudhope switches to stablemate Blue For You. Brunch has been lightly raced this year but appears to have the beating of the frustrating Empirestateofmind on Newcastle running. Spioradalta won’t mind the ground and is in decent form so could go well from the foot of the weights even though Laura Coughlan will put up some overweight.
