Verdict
This looks the stronger division of the maiden but the presence of the 92-rated Daniel Thomas may be the reason a few trainers have decided to wait for other days with a number of interesting newcomers. So the Amanda Perrett-trained son of Dansili is confidently expected to get off the mark today. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained pair of Sharp Reply and Gamble Of the Day are others to monitor in the betting and during the race, as both are expensive purchases and will be expected to start paying their way once they become familiar as to what is required of them. However, Stoute is renowned for his patience with younger horses and they may just be better for the run here. A similar comment applies to John Gosden's approach with juveniles and, although Golden Feather will be popular being the mount of Frankie Dettori, his charge is one to watch today. Real Cool cat found her introduction at York to be an insufficient test of her stamina and will appreciate this extra furlong. However, being by Storm Cat, the soft ground is a concern and a watching brief on the market is advised before assuming that Mark Johnston's charge will handle the conditions this afternoon. Conversely, there are no such doubts about Daniel Thomas, who coped well on the ground at Kempton and got better the further he went. This looks a natural progression for him and it will be a disappointing setback for his connections if he cannot make it fourth time lucky on the racecourse.
