In depth
Verdict
Pagan Dance's defeat of Courageous Duke reads pretty well in the form book but he was put in his place in handicap company last time out. Cat's Whiskers has accumulated many miles on the clock and connections have suggested that he probably is a 1m2f horse. He produced a career best behind Lady Bear last time out and should be respected now that he is back in his own age group. Thaqib was well supported for a big Newmarket handicap last week but failed to deliver the goods. There is nothing to suggest that he'll relish the extra distance but he is progressive and it would be foolish to completely write him off. The TEAMtalk nod is given to Chai Walla. His campaign has hardly been the most logical from a formbook perspective but he could be well treated off his current mark and has experience of Doncaster. Despite appearing green on both of his starts, Henry Cecil's inmate has had a number of battle-hardened horses in behind and he could go on to better things. Red Wine comes here off the back of some fair efforts but will need to do more to be in the shake-up here.
