Verdict

De Vegas Kid has a good strike-rate for a handicapper and escapes a penalty for last week’s victory in an apprentices’ race at Goodwood. He has to go on the short-list while Hammer Gun has already won twice here this year and was third on his latest visit off his new mark. Lothario has only won on the all-weather so far but his turn on Turf isn’t far away judged on his fifth at Windsor. Anna Bunina won at Redcar in April and improved again when second at Ripon but the step up to a mile looks certain to suit Leicester third STAR SHIELD and he gets the nod. Verdigris could also be interesting as she didn’t enjoy heavy going at Yarmouth having won nicely at Redcar earlier.
