        Verdict

        A few of these quickly renew rivalries after the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle on Friday night and Salviati, Proud Boast and Bali Royal are obvious selections for the shortlist. The first-named has stood plenty of racing in the past and it would be no surprise to see him gain compensation here. However, Lord Kintyre goes well here and also has conditions to suit. He has done little wrong this term and is worth having a saver on in case the race comes around too quickly for Salviati.
