Traditionally the first race of the turf flat racing season this comes five days after the start of the new campaign this year but the wait may be worth it for Dance To My Tune, who is preferred to Calatagan and Colleton River. The last mentioned is of interest given his scope for improvement but a wide draw is of concern for the son of Croco Rouge and it may pay to concentrate on those drawn low. Eton, who finished third in the lady riders' handicap on this card 12 months ago, can go well fresh and has to be respected long with course and distance winner Dickie Deadeye, who comes here fit from a spell hurdling. Newtonian is fit from the all-weather and is another to consider along with Lynda Ramsden's Greenwich Meantime, although he may want further to show his best form. More solid claims are held by top weight Calatagan, who made much of the running in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham when last seen and may be able to dominate from the front again. The vote though goes to Dance To My Tune. Mick Easterby won this last year with Middlethorpe and the daughter of Halling is preferred to her stablemate, who was also among the five-day entries, this time around. Unexposed over today's trip but entitled to appreciate it, the daughter of Halling is sure to be fit enough on her reappearance and gets the vote to give Mick Easterby the winner of it again with the very capable Paul Mulrennan taking the ride.
